Let's Have a Parade!

posted Jun 18, 2012, 9:07 PM by Cub Scout
Pack 508 will participate in the parade which accompanies the Blaine Festival.  See the web site at for all things parade related.  Each family should review this and download a copy of the parade route.

Come build the float:
Friday, June 22, 2012
Time: 6:00pm
Where: Mallet's garage

Saturday, June 23, 2012
Line-up: 10:30am - "Unit B01"
Parade start: 12noon
Enter the line-up area at Paul Parkway & Oak Park Boulevard. The Fire Department will be there directing traffic so please remember this Unit # so you get to the right spot.
The parade runs along Jefferson Street from 117th Ave. to Madison Elementary (which is at approximately 105th Ave.). It is a long parade route. Please prepare your scout by feeding them a nutritious, full breakfast.  Parents should meet their Cub Scout at Madison Elementary playground.

What to bring:
*Personal water bottle (Scout must carry the entire parade route, so a caribiner clip to their belt loop is advised.)
*Sunscreen already on (protect arms, faces, legs specifically)
*Ice cream bucket, decorated by your Scout (Pack will provide candy they can put in their bucket to pass out along parade route)
*Sandwich / light lunch clearly marked with Scout's name (Pack providing coolers and we'll put their sandwich in the cooler so they can have a quick bite to eat before the parade starts.)
*Poncho if it's raining
*Walking shoes - NO flip flops!
*Full Class A uniform (shirt/neckerchief/slide), jean shorts or scout uniform shorts please
*If they have their scout rank appropriate hat, they may choose to wear to keep sun out of their eyes (make sure it's labeled inside just in case they take it off on the float).
*Parents will drop their scouts off at the parade line-up. We encourage all parents to park at the end of the route (close to Madison school) - bring your lawnchair, sit back, enjoy the parade. Bring your cameras!
